Vision and Values

The core values of Garland Junior School are:

  • Determination: learning with confidence and without fear of failure.
  • Respect: caring for one another and valuing difference.
  • Teamwork: growing together through shared experiences.

These core values are explored every day to promote high self-esteem and future success.

Pupils and staff who actively demonstrate the core values are celebrated in the weekly achievement assembly. Teachers give out 'WOW' awards for determined learners, there is a class 'star of the week' award for someone who has shown respect to others and house points are collected throughout the school to add towards the team total.

The values are also upheld when things go wrong. The school has adopted a restorative approach to behaviour management which ensures that all children are listened to and valued. Restorative Practice also seeks to solve problems together as a team.

Our core values ensure that we seek to work with one another and that everyone has a valued voice.

We Learn, We Care, We Grow, We Succeed.

At Garland Junior School we champion a broad and balanced curriculum which allows children to develop relationships as  well as gaining academic knowledge.

The pupils, staff and parents considered the core purpose of the school and chose our three core values which the staff seek to instill in all children during their time here. We strive to involve our local community in shaping our school.
